MULTI
AWARDING-WINNING DOCUMENTARY
SERIES
" Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."
Philip K. Dick (1928 - 1982)
"The record-breaking success of "Fahrenheit 9/11" and
"Super Size Me" may mark a
turning point in the acceptance of documentaries by audiences as mass entertainment.
I think audiences
are getting used to going to documentaries in a way they haven't before.
Some movie executives
attribute the shift to the popularity of reality television and others
to the expanding definition
of documentaries to include
narrative, nonfiction entertainment. I think the success of reality
television has made documentaries more a part of the mainstream, not just
a kind of movie for
intellectual aesthetes. But
it is also due to the high entertainment value of the latest group
of documentaries."

-
Director Bob Bryan is extremely successful
at depicting Graffiti art as an unsung and unrecognized source of some
of the most original and culturally rich artwork of the 20th Century. It
likens Graffiti to the impressionists of the early 1900's. Similar to Graf
work, impressionist works were not accepted into the mainstream until
long after they were created. Viewing this film makes me see the
talent that is going unnoticed in the art-world.
-Hip-Hop Now

RITUALISTIC HIEROGLYPHICS AND CAVE WRITINGS."

NARRATION IS DONE BY THE SPRAY-PAINTER'S THEMSELVES ... THEY TRACE THE
HISTORY OF LOS ANGELES GRAFFITI TO THE PRE-AEROSOL DAYS OF THE 1940'S,
EXPLAINING THE EVOLUTION OF LETTERING STYLES AND THE EXPANSION OF TAGGING
INTO WHAT THEY CALL 'PIECING'."
-Los
Angeles Times
-
"THEIR
WORK COMES ACROSS AS A COMPLEX, POWERFUL UNDERTAKING WITH LOADS OF ARTISTIC
CREDIBILITY. THE ARTISTS DISCUSS WORKING IN A REALM OF SELF-EXPRESSION
AND SOCIAL COMMENTARY AND HOW THEY ENGAGE IN A 'GAME OF SURVIVAL' ON URBAN
STREETS FRAUGHT WITH PHYSICAL DANGER."

AND IMPACT OF GRAFFITI..."
-Rap
Pages Magazine
-
"Graffiti Verite', a 45 minute, shot on video
production by director Bob Bryan, is an ambitious glimpse into Los Angeles'
long standard tradition of writing. Rather than get dragged into
a whirlpool of flashy hype, this solidly crafted effort bypasses glitz
and instead (thankfully) concentrates on the words and images of the over
two dozen street artists profiled. It's obvious that Bryan sees his
subjects as creative people and not hooligans."

-The

-
GV2: Freedom of ExpreSSion? is
a stunning look at the hip-hop subculture that has developed a lifestyle
and movement of its own...The verite' aspect of GV2
is evident in the way that Bryan allows his subjects to say their peace
without censorship or positioning quotes.
-The
Source Magazine, by Eric K. Arnold
-
"VENTURING

art has become since this documentary series was first released (Video

graffiti artist "Sano" demonstrates his artistic process and techniques, first
by drawing elements of a piece on a sketchpad and then donning a protective
