How did you get started
in Graffiti?
The Lord was the very first artist, and because
I'm a Christian, I follow his example. Another influence was viewing pieces
by West, Lady Pink, Gnome and Doze.
This changed my whole outlook on visual expression.
What are your feelings
toward Canadian graffiti?
There's a lot of Canadian 'Aerosol' talent,
but the problem is that many of the 'big name' Toronto writers (ike their
international counterparts) behave as if they have sole control over the
Canadian scene, and they do this just to suck up to the 'elite' international
writers. Although their artwork is technically pretty good, it still lacks
originality and is done in order to achieve worldwide fame instead of artistic
expression. It is very important that once you have achieved a certain
level of recognition,to obtain a humble and supportive character - especially
toward the young and upcoming writers whom are merely toys in our eyes.As
for the Jamaican scene, graffiti isn't yet an island wide movement and
this is due to the recent introduction of the art form.
Where do you feel
graffiti is headed in the future?
I believe that it will evolve
so that the contents of graffiti will have more originality and style.
As an art form, graffiti will become more mainstream - thus allowing a
new generation of diamonds to flourish in a more serious and business like
manner. Graffiti needs not to be judged by the 'Aerosol' outcome, but also
by it's design and composition and needs to be explored with other mediums.
How do you feel about
Digital Graffiti?
It really excites me! This is one of the ways
that our art form is evolving and moving with the times.
Peace and Love!
