12 YEAR OLD FILMMAKER WINS SHRIEKFEST AWARD
FOR " YOUNGEST DIRECTOR "

Los Angeles, CA. USA., October 28, 2001, BWP News...ShriekFest, The First Annual Los Angeles Horror Film Festival has just announced the winners of the 2001 film festival. Filmmakers from around the country have submitted features, videos, shorts and documentaries based on the horror genre.

" We are excited to bring you this year's best independent horror films."

This years festival was opened with the world premier of  The Monster Killers, a seven minute short directed by 12 year old, Los Angeles middle school filmmaker, Nicholas Robert Bryan. The Monster Killers was written, produced, directed and stars precocious filmmaker Nicholas Bryan 3 years ago when he was an  9 year old LAUSD elementary school student. The Monster Killers is about three friends who break into a haunted house to see who or what lives inside.  It was announced at the onset of  the ShriekFest Awards Ceremony that Nicholas Robert Bryan is the winner of the award for Youngest Director.
 "It was a pretty special thing having him here. I hope he knows that, he will inspire many others" says ShriekFest Co-Founder Denise Gossett.  Upon receiving his award Sunday Night, October 28, 2001 Nicholas said affectionately that:

" I'd like to thank my family and fans for their support."

The screening of  The Monster Killers was met with loud laughter and applause by a supporting audience of fellow filmmakers and guests. Young independent filmmaker Nicholas Bryan looks forward to directing again.  Nicholas writes with Movie Magic Screenwriter and has already written over 10 different scripts  which are in various stages of development. Nick's real life heroes are his father Bob Bryan, Legendary Hollywood  Filmmaker, Steven Spielberg, prolific writer Stephen King and the creator of Marvel Comics Spider Man, Stan Lee. An avid filmgoer Nick looks forward to seeing the new Harry Potter Movie due out this November.

ShriekFest 2001 took place at The Charlie Chaplin Theater in The Raleigh Studios located in Hollywood, California.  Denise Gossett and Kimberly S. Beeson are the founders of  The First Annual ShriekFest 2001.   ShriekFest Horror Film Festival Banner
